The walls of the classroom for young children should be very elastic and flexible because learning for them is not confined by the four walls of a room.

Recently we stretched the walls during a lesson on plants. Children from the Playgroup and K1 classes went to a neighbouring school for their lesson. There they used their sense of touch, smell, sight to learn about various plants like the cactus, pandan, lime, canna, coconut and many more. The teachers had the opportunity to bring to life what the children saw through pictures in books in the walled classroom. They may not be able to remember all the names of the plants they saw but the experience of going out to see and touch these plants was in itself an unforgettable experience for most of the children.

We trust the children have been enriched and enlightened through having their classroom lessons outdoors.
